Ian Kelsey (born 17 December 1966) is a British television actor.

Kelsey was born in York, Yorkshire, England, to parents Julie (a window dresser) and John (a printer). He also has an older brother named David. He trained at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre York and graduated at the Guildford School of Acting. He divides his time between his London home in Chiswick and where Casualty is filmed in Bristol. His hobbies are golf and music. He supports Barnsley F.C. and has a pet goldfish called Toby. He dislikes rudeness and arrogance and considers his worst habit to be smoking.

He is married to West End singer and dancer Mia Michaels and together they have two daughters; Layla and Ivy.

Selected career

His first credited role was Narmco Clerk in the 1993 television mini-series Wild Justice.

Since then he has gone on to play Dave Glover in TV's Emmerdale, had a cameo role in BBC TV comedy series Men Behaving Badly, had a three year stint as Dr. Patrick Spiller in Casualty and appeared in BBC1 drama Down to Earth as Matt Brewer (series 3-4) during 2003 and 2004.

Not content with playing straight roles, Kelsey has branched into the thriller side of acting. His first brush adding the chilling side to his many acting skills was in the mini-series Touching Evil (the 3rd instalment) in which he played a crying boyfriend. Liam Taylor was his next role in the murder mystery/thriller Murder in Mind, he appeared in the "Vigilante" episode. He also plays DI Richard Mayne in TV detective thriller Blue Murder.

In 2006 Kelsey had acting roles in the BBC1 late-night drama Hotel Babylon and could be seen in the ITV1 Sunday evening drama Where the Heart Is, playing Jack Clayton opposite actress Shobna Gulati). This is his second role in the show as in 2005 he played a completely different character, Adam Miller.

In late 2006 he started appearing on stage in the London West End production of Chicago. In 2008, he appeared on the BBC film Dustbin Baby.

on 3 September 2010 he guest starred in the BBC drama Doctors.

Kelsey was also in Black Beauty (1994 film) as Joe Green (older).

On Wednesday December 9, 2009 Ian appeared on magazine show This Morning, chatting to presenters Phillip Schofield & Holly Willoughby about his upcoming stunt in long-running ITV1 police drama The Bill.
